Sports Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is an initiative which has been implemented by the Government to improve sports within Primary Schools and provide better opportunities for our children. The funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent in areas directly related to PE and Sport.

To view our 2024-25 PE and Sport Premium Report with information relating to the funding we received, areas we have spent it and how we are working to make the changes sustainable.

Swimming

At Durham Lane Primary School, we place a high value on children being able to swim. Not only is swimming a key life skill, but it is an important way for the children to realise how sport can impact on their health, fitness and well-being.

All children who have not reached the national benchmark, will go swimming again in their next academic year.

Meeting national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety.

  • Percentage of current Year 6 cohort who can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations: 90%
